This weather station is located about 2 miles west of Waterloo, Nebraska, or about 21 miles west of downtown Omaha at 41° 17' 19" N latitude and 96° 19' 54" W longitude at an elevation of 1130 feet. Measurements are taken with a Davis Vantage Pro2 wireless weather station. Temperature and humidity sensors are at an elevation of 6 feet above the ground. A temporary mast holds the wind equipment at 12 feet above ground, but this will be raised to 20 feet above ground when a permanent mast is installed.

The surrounding area is mowed grass with trees occupying the northeast quadrant. Winds are relatively unobstructed in the other three quadrants for a distance of at least 100 yards.
