This weather station is located about 2 miles west of Waterloo, Nebraska, or about 21 miles west of downtown Omaha at 41° 17' 19" N latitude and 96° 19' 54" W longitude at an elevation of 1130 feet. Measurements are taken with a Davis Vantage Pro2 wireless weather station. Temperature and humidity sensors are at an elevation of 6 feet above the ground. On 5 September 2010 the wind equipment was raised from a temporary mast height of 12 feet to its permanent home at 24 feet.

The surrounding area is mowed grass with trees occupying the northeast quadrant. Winds are relatively unobstructed in the other three quadrants for a distance of at least 100 yards.
